Not Enough Kids!

Posted by athinkingwoman on 2nd June 2008

A few days ago, Josh was wrestling with the kids. He was lying on the couch and Gabe, Aaron and Emmie were all piled up on top of him. It was so fun to watch! Then, Gabe excitedly exclaims, “Daddy! There’s not enough kids on you!”

So I asked Gabe, ” Should Mommy have more babies so more kids can wrestle daddy?”

He grins and says matter-of-factly, “Yes.”

Lemon Cigars

Posted by athinkingwoman on 7th May 2008

Monday was, of course, Cinco De Mayo. Our family celebrates this with Mexican food (yummy!) and pinatas (sorry, I don’t know how to put the tilde on) filled with candy. We also play Mexican music and just have a great time.

This year we had a friend and his daughter over to celebrate with us. After they left, we all played outside in the backyard while daddy enjoyed a cigar. Emmie (2yrs) came to him with a yellow piece of candy and asked him to open it, so he did. Then he asked her, “Does it taste like lemon?” She said, “Yes.” A few minutes later Emmie came back to Josh and pointed at his cigar and asked, “Does it taste like lemon?”

An Age of Innocence

Posted by athinkingwoman on 19th March 2008

At bedtime tonight, I sent the boys to go use the potty.  Aaron went to the kids bathroom, Gabe went into the master bathroom.  I was on the phone with hubby when I  saw Emmie wander into the bathroom where Gabe was as he was finishing.  So, wanting to protect her innocence, I went to stop her. Gabe was already re-dressed and Emmie was pulling her diaper off in front of the potty trying  to pee like brother—standing up! I almost died laughing. I got off the phone so I could help her potty the “girl way”.

Gabe then wanders into the bathroom while Emmie is sitting on the potty.  I told him, “Gabe you need to leave because Emmie is going potty.” Gabe said, “She’s not going potty, she doesn’t even have a p*n*s.” Of course, how could she possibly go potty without one of those =)

Chicken Anyone?

Posted by athinkingwoman on 8th February 2008

I showed Emmie (2yrs)  the ultrasound picture of the new baby.  She smiled and asked, “Is that a baby chicken?”

Emmie’s ABCs

Posted by athinkingwoman on 19th January 2008

A few days ago I asked Emmie if she wanted to sing me a song.  So, she did…

“A,B,C,D,E,F,G…H,I,K,K, *mumble, mumble*P…Q,R,S…T,U,S…W,S…Y, *mumble*…now my know my A,B,C,D,E,F,G…H,I,K,K,*mumble, mumble*P…Q,R,S…T,U,S…W,S…Y*mumble* now my know my A,B,,C,D,E,F,G…H,I,K,K,…ETC.

This went on for about 5 whole minutes.  I think she went through the ABCs about 7 1/2 half times.  I think she realized that the ABCs were not supposed to be the Song That Never Ends, so sometime after her 7th H,I,K,K, she just stopped, and stuck her thumb in her mouth. Undoubtedly her way of saying, ok Mom, I can find better things to do with my mouth.

Sentences

Posted by athinkingwoman on 28th August 2007

Emmie is speaking in sentences more often now days. This morning, she surprised me with a pretty complex and thought out question. She looked at me and asked,

“Over, Nema’s house, can I?”

Might not sound like a big deal to most, but it’s much more than Emmie usually says.  And she’s talking a little more like Yoda every day.
